Iris bloomed today

When Amma was here, my sister had called her and I overheard her asking Amma how big is my garden..

I come from a family of avid gardeners..

One of the reasons my youngest wanted to come to Australia was to have her own garden..All she could grow in our basement suite was hens and chicks. the rest died of natural causes on a regular basis.

I met Stephanie here..She drives and delivers big rigs from factory to the new owners! I always wanted to learn to drive a big rig.. I am fascinated by big rigs. When we were in Canada, especially when i drive on trans Canada highway, if any big rig pass by us, all three kids would holler and ask me
“mama did you see ??”
Every few years Stephanie uproots herself and move to a new place..She was moving from Brisbane to Cairns and gave me a lot of her plants..The only plant I can safely identify is Curry leaves plant.. and Stephanie spend a better part of the day trying to teach me the names of all the plants.. One of it was Iris.. She informed me that it had already flowered this year it will bloom again next year.. I planted it near my bird feeder and totally forgot about it..

back to my sister’s question..I heard my mother answer her ” of course she has plants.. thalakuthi ninnal chevi attam varey”

A very sarcastic comment, but neverthless it was the truth..
Baby and I had only 20 pots of plants..not so remarkable for an avid gardener.

Today I went to put seeds in the bird feeder and found that the Iris has bloomed..This was a plant that was totally neglected the last one year..I never even watered it.. but it still bloomed..
It should have been a happy day for me
But it isn’t

I have hit rock bottom
