What would you do?

What would you do,

If you find one day that your uncle send 600 odd anonymous letters to everyone who knows you, that you are a prostitute?

Do you ignore it?

Or does your world crumble and collapse, even though you know you haven’t done anything wrong? Even when you know that reaction is exactly what your uncle was hoping you would have?

How would you feel if your personal email ID has been used to post porn articles on porn sites?

How would you feel when an individual harass you by Cyber stalking and even threatening physical harm?

It was possible for my uncle to get away with what he has done, because I was just an ordinary medical student and he was one of the highest ranking civil servant in Bangalore at that time.
There wasn’t a single police officer in Bangalore at that time who had the back bone to accept my complaint against a such a senior govt official.

But almost 20 years later someone else is still trying to do exactly what my uncle tried to do.

Trying to tarnish a woman’s name by hoping that the tactics of shame and fear would ruin her life.

Doesn’t it make you wonder if there are no laws in the land of billion people against such harassment?

Aren’t there anyone who can stop this nonsense?

Or is it that, money and power still rules?
Or it it that even after all these years of women’s liberation, we have regressed to such a level that a woman’s name, her character, her personality etc are nothing but a commodity that can be used by a man who wants to control her.

What would you do, if this happens to you tomorrow?

When the Nazis came for the communists,

I remained silent;I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,

I remained silent;I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,

I did not speak out;I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,

I remained silent;I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me,

there was no one left to speak out.

  1. Sarah,
That’s a deep and scary thought. But I for sure know that I will not ignore such an issue if it threatns me or my family…
What would I do? you ask,how about finding all the support and invest in time to wage a war against such criminals.I am aware of the difficult path but hey its better to live once brave than die living in fear. That I am sure of.
Nobody mess with me or my family for their own evil pleasures.Period.

  2. Dear Ajay Bakshi,

    Thank you for the call.

I have been taught to be more polite with impolite people.

Imagine if you had started the conversation in a more professional and polite manner, it could have salved our time and solved my purpose of writing to you.

Instead you gave me the job of cooling you down and then tell you what is bothering me.

One thing is for sure, you cannot be running behind every blogger and beat him/her up. In my email I have been as much polite as I can be. The way I was brought up by my parents did not allow me to reply in the same tone as you did…

I was only trying to findout if this was a genuine case.

Shiva or Selva are the people who are the first interface to your company to an outsider like me.

Don’t you think its their responsibility to be polite and show the outsider that you are a professionally run company and not a group of goondas. They loose their selfrespect as well loose the respect of the public towards your company as a whole, with such irresponsible replies.

I know you guys are busy with much better work to do. Then why waste time on Inji pennu and other bloggers.

Give one solid polite reply to everyone and be done.

Only after I spoke to you I understood your situation. It will be same for everyone else.

Trust me… Its not worth giving such impolite replies. Look athe most recent reply from Kerals.com to me… Its so impolite and comes no-where near a genuine professional setup or for that matter the guy who wrote it seems like someone brought-up in a highly un-civilized and indecent family.

Please do not reply in this regards anymore, it will only drag our conversation.

Lets stay friends and do call me for any help you need from back in India. I will be reachable 24/7 for you.

    Dear Inji Pennu,

I would say do not delete the details you already published, but rather tell the blogger community that Anashwara group did feel the impact of the unity of the blogger community.

I also feel, when a small organisation suddenly grows big, it is not necessary that the people involved at the lower level will grow-up too. I am strictly talking about people like Shiva, Selva others who wrote kiddish emails to you. They did not bother about the implications of reply to such general enquiries from the Media.

My father is a very well-known senior Journalist and most of our family friends are journalist with leading newspapers and magazines around the world. It would not take much time for me to blow up the whole thing and spoil their reputation. But is it really worth punishing the people on top. They too must have had dreams to grow the company with their hard and smart work. And I think its really not worth to punish and spoil their dreams because of some IDIOT who recently got employed or partnered behaved like a wild monkey gone mad.

    Thank you all

Do you have any problems for that..? If yes, stay away.. We do what ever we want and it’s none of your business…

    Stay away from the site…

  3. I think the civil servant was perfectly moral in doing so.One’s reputation is what others think of him.One doesn’t have the right to own others thought and people have the right to do anything that makes an impact on others thoughts without infringing their personal freedom.
