Tuesdays with Morrie

When I was expecting Yaya, I was asked to take complete bed rest. Chances of me carrying ย her to ย full term was very slim, so said the doctor.

A part of me wanted to dream of all that I would be doing as a mom, a part of me was terrified of even dreaming about such things.

I remember laying down on the living room couch. It was close to Christmas time and I wondered if I would have a child to celebrate the next Christmas. That day, I was reading Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie. All of a sudden I felt Yaya’s kick. It was an unmistakable feeling..

My hands instinctively went to hold my tummy..and I knew my baby and I are going to be fine. I promised myself that day that I will cherish every minute of my child’s life, just like Morrie had advised.

I transferred 150,000 of my frequent flier points to Yaya as her graduation gift. She now has enough points to travel around Europe before going to Uni. I also gave her the book Tuesdays with Morrie. May be the book will give her hope like it did for me.

i am going to Tasmania today for a week. My friends tell me that it is the garden of Eden. If I find the place as beautiful as they claim to be, I will post photos.

Until then

Adios

    • Parvathy: The magical place I found was after driving for 3 hours on the worst dirt track you could imagine ( it was my turn to drive that day) and then having to trek about 2 hours to get to a water fall.. it was like a Hobbits secret hide out.. it was so beautiful..

  1. I have read Tuesdays with Morrie in school and have written an essay once about it. I found that it is a great novel to read as Morrie does reveal many important life lessons during his final days that I feel many of us are catching on. He’s really an inspiration IMO, and I do find it intriguing that many people still do meet and catch up with their old professors ๐Ÿ™‚
